As a landscape contractor based in Watkins Minnesota, I have come to the realization over the years that we, as contractors have the opportunity to regain lower prices and higher quality products through the formation of an landscape congress. This landscape congress of contractors, growers and gardeners will come together and purchase materials only through the landscape congress which will be owned and operated by them. We will form a partnership with each other, agreeing to purchase our products from our congress only, driving out the wholesalers that continue to stymie our business through poor quality products, their own profit margins and the selling of us, their backbone, out by marketing and selling to retail customers. When I began purchasing products in 1990 from T-wall in Victoria, MN. the company sold only on a wholesale level. Today, they sell to our customers at only 15% more than wholesale and call it retail. The same is very
true of other companies such as Hedberg and Gertens. This practise, along with supplying shotty materials such as natural stone which, includes $75.00 of waste product per pallet kills our profitability and lowers our standard of living, forcing us to either eat these costs or turn them over to our beloved customers. It is time to do away with these 'middle men' and begin buying direct from the original source through our congressional brotherhood. No more purchasing from those who used our sales to sell us down the road. The Plan:Each company will have a Lifetime Membership Fee.These fees will go directly to the purchase of land, a building for offices, sales desks and loading equipment. 2000 contractors x $1,000.00 = $2,000,000.00 for the formation of 3-4 locations throughout the metro. Companies wishing to join who cannot afford the $1,000.00 Lifetime Membership fee can make a nominal payment at each purchase which will be applied to their fee payment. Each company will also have an annual fee of $100.00 to pay for the operating costs of the Congress. All member contractors will be required to donate 8 hours per month to the congresses operations. The companies who are paying their fees over time will be required to donate more time to the operations of the Congress sales yard. In addition to having our own business to buy from, we will have a display park for potential landscape customers to view, showcasing work from each Congress member's company. In the future, we will begin selling retail as well, further advancing our operations proficiency through the use of retail profits. Addittional profits will be divided among members. We can now get rid of these middlemen all together and start buying at true wholesale and selling at true retail. The manufacturers and the quarries will have no other option but to sell directly to the congress as we will no longer make any purchases from the companies who sold us out and have been bilking us for nickels, dimes, pounds and tons over the years. We must come together now and take our buying and selling power back. This must go viral. Any comments or concerns are accepted and any contractor is free to join following a brief phone interview. Le
ts do this together folks.Call me today please. I am not claiming ownership of this Congress and do
not seek any profit from this except for us contractors to take our industry back from those who have once viewed us as their "backbone" and now seek to leave us in the dust of retai profits.
Lets get organized
